Superfood Spirulina

It doesn’t matter what I eat, it can be anything, and my immediate thoughts turn to, “would a dog benefit from this” or “would my dog like that”. But when the juice recipe this morning called for Spirulina, I stuck my tongue out and did a little “yuck” sound.  Not even I wanted to eat that! But then, when I drank the juice, it tasted so good I forgot about the green potent powder. My health needs a boost at the moment so, guess what, it’s going to be a daily does for me! It reminded me of some of my favourite authors like W.Jean Dodds and Dana Scott who mention spirulina in their work. If you are into natural health, read on!

Spirulina is an algae, it is 60% plant protein and it is packed with so much good stuff in it. It isn’t just added to homemade juices these days, it can be found in drinks, supplements, snack bars and, who knew, face packs.

If you have it in your cupboard, it can absolutely be added to your dog’s food bowl. Turns out my dog has different taste buds to me as he loves it!

Spirulina improves immune system function so, as a result (and without getting too scientific), it improves health.

It is recommended specifically for its healing properties for dogs with arthritis, cancer and liver disease. And we also think of dogs with autoimmune diseases as those who would benefit from immune system boosting food, such as spirulina.

But how about your reactive dog? Or your anxious, nervous, stressed dog? It is exhausting on a dog’s immune system when they have these tendencies and behaviours. Their immune system needs as much love and TLC as any poorly dog and they will benefit from this natural supplement. Not only will it strengthen their immune system, but allergies and gastrointestinal health will get a super boost too.

Curious about what else can go in the bowl at dinner time? I’ll do my best to give you as many ideas and variety as possible. However if you would like a specific topic mentioned, just ask!

CUrrently taking a break...

Hello everyone!

I have been a bit quiet recently, getting Spirit’s Community up and running has become more than a full time job! So until it is resourced, I am going to take a break here. But I will be back later in the year with a fabulous new nutrition programme to help your dog maintain a healthy weight!

Meanwhile, a huge thank you for all your support & do pop over to the shop and take a browse around!
