Meet Bodie Shires. Oh my goodness he is brilliant and what a bundle of energetic puppiness he is! I hadn’t planned on making house calls part of the service, but with a cutie like this on the door step and owners who want to get feeding bang on right from day one, it was never going to be a phone consult.
With so many choices for feeding your puppy, the question I get asked most often is, where to start? There is no one right answer, it depends on your beliefs and lifestyle, and your dog’s tastebuds. Kibble, wet, home cooked, vegetarian, vegan or raw, or a mix and match, the possibilities are endless.
The crucial thing to get right whilst they are young? Variety!
Nutrition is vital for their growth and development. Calcium and phosphorous is a must at this time, along with vitamins C and D for bone health, so make sure the ingredients on your dog food are transparent.
Building up your puppy’s digestive system and gut biodiversity is also key whilst they are young. If you are feeding kibble, add some steamed veggies and ground meat to add extra fresh nutrients.
If you think a chat might help, I offer free 15 introductory consultations so you can see if my service is right for you.
One of the most enjoyable things as a first time puppy owner is getting your confidence in the food bowl so enjoy and experiment!
